Hamdi & Cesco Collide On "Up The Place" EP

With his unmistakable style and unique swagger, Hamdi has cemented himself as one of the foremost names in Dubstep. The Oxford native has taken electronic music by storm, transcending genres and ushering in a new era for 140 across the globe. With seminal tracks like “Skanka” and “Counting” now deeply entrenched within the greater collective consciousness. Perhaps Hamdi’s biggest release to date “Swing King” features prominently on Cesco’s new Up The Place EP.

The Up The Place EP underlines Cesco as one to watch heading into 2024. Hamdi joins the rising star with the lead single “Swing King,” one of the most rinsed tracks in bass music, having been pushed by selectas far and wide this year. With its official release, this highly-anticipated track stands shoulder to shoulder with the best releases of 2023. “Swing King” rumbles with effortless groove, atmospheric bass, and cheeky finesse cementing these two producers at the forefront of the genre.

Cesco continues flexing with “GITP,” an angsty off-the-wall banger. Rakish percussive elements interplay deftly with hip-hop-leaning vocal samples to give this track a pulsating ebb and flow. Primed for shelling down dancefloors, “GITP” is a lethal dubplate with ample bounce.

The project’s title track, “Up The Place,” is a high-energy breaks-heavy track that features off-kilter production from Cesco as he employs stylish synths and aggressive arrangement to deliver an enigmatic effort.

Cesco collabs with Bidl on “Overdue.” This massive tune trembles audaciously and showcases the duo’s penchant for hard-hitting 140. Potent basslines and classic soundboy vocal samples give this track an effortless head-nod flair. Sure to evoke gun-finger salutes across the globe “Overdue” is definitely the surprise package on this project.

The Up The Place EP is out now via Alix Perez’s 1985 imprint.
