Hypho & Chef Boyarbeatz Join Forces For Smokers Club EP

SMACK NYC alumni Hypho and Chef Boyarbeatz have joined forces for one of the most highly anticipated collaborations of 2023. With both artists at the top of their game, the SMOKERS CLUB EP offers a potent blend of these two heavy hitters’ distinct styles. Merging Chef Boyarbeatz's hip-hop-leaning low-end magic with Hypho’s cutting-edge UK flow, this three-track project hits all the right spots.

The EP opens with the title track “Smokers Club.” Straight out of the gates the duo of Hypho and Chef set the tone with a haunting and foreboding intro that builds tension before unleashing a stomping bassline. Silky percussion evokes elements of breaks as the twosome flex their marauding arrangement.

The release continues with the off-kilter track “Akanum.” This incendiary banger sees Hypho strike off on his own. The Manuka Records label head brings a collision of sonic styles as rattling breakbeat percussion slices through thumping dubstep overtones, tied neatly together with well-placed vocal samples.

Chef Boyarbeatz closes out SMOKERS CLUB with the dub-soaked tune “SELECTAH.” Inspired by classic reggae dub style, “SELECTAH” is a vibey and meditative finale for this high-grade collaboration.
