MIKAYLI - HYPNOTIC EP

As one of the freshest talents to make their way out of Brooklyn’s underground, Mikayli continues to impress with a slew of high-profile appearances and consistent support from eye-catching tastemakers across the scene. With his newest Hypnotic EP, the Brooklyn-based beatsmith flexes his considerable sound design chops and showcases his evolution as an artist.

The 5-track project expertly blends a myriad of sonic styles while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. Mikayli dabbles deftly in murky low-end nooks and crannies while injecting crunchy percussive elements and synths into his mesmerizing melodies. Mikayli’s penchant for meticulous mastering comes through tenfold in the pummeling grooves of “Tunnel Vision” and atmospheric soundscapes throughout “Mess.”

“On Time” stands out as a personal highlight, with Mikayli cooking up naughty vocal samples with salacious rhythmic breakdowns, while the high-energy closing track “Heat Seeker” puts a tremendous exclamation on this proper release.

“The Hypnotic EP is the most cohesive body of music that I’ve released so far. These tracks kinda flowed out of my brain within a period of 3-4 weeks. This was some of the most fun I’ve had writing music and experimenting with a new sound. The process of writing this EP opened up a whole world of possibilities for me and I’ve been on a steady streak of writing music since.
