Lavier Shines With Dark Times EP

Pittsburgh-based multi-genre bass music producer Lavier continues to thrive with the release of his latest Dark Times EP. The talented multi-instrumentalist has amassed a collection of thoughtful compositions ranging from murky dubstep stompers to gossamer melodic beats and thought-provoking lo-fi jams.

With this newest three-track project, Lavier merges his passions for sonic exploration and moody aesthetics by producing a stellar Dark Times audiovisual experience.

Dark Times opens with the mesmerizing track “Drifting.” Lavier showcases his background as a trained pianist on this tune, mingling delicate keys with pulsating percussion and dreamy synths to cook up a sumptuous 140 ballad.

Lavier keeps the moody vibes going with the haunting tune “I Can’t Escape.” Rife with sinister sub-bass, “I Can’t Escape” perfectly encapsulates the Dark Times motif evoking horror movie suspense.

“The title of this project is pretty self explanatory. There have been a ton of ups and downs this year both in my life, and seemingly everyone else’s. Whether in a personal sense or a more societal sense, it certainly does feel like we are in some dark times. I don’t want to sound negative (!!!), but I think it’s okay to acknowledge the unpleasant things and that’s pretty much the perspective I was coming from while creating much of this project.”

The project comes to a close with the thumping “Grave Diggers.” Stirring vocal samples interplay with atmospheric synths as Lavier deftly builds tension. Breaks heavy percussion clatters into driving basslines to result in an almighty banger as Lavier brings this poignant release to a climactic finale.

With this latest example of Lavier’s unique and intriguing production style, there’s no doubt that this forward-thinking beatsmith and graphic artist is poised at the forefront of the bass music vanguard.
