MURKURY & LAVIER - WORLDS COLLIDE EP
Two of the freshest names in bass music have come together to drop one of the best projects of 2024 already. Low-end tastemakers Murkury and Lavier join forces on their highly anticipated Worlds Collide EP. Since breaking onto the scene Lavier has grown in stature and distinguished himself as a sound design visionary with an ear for crafting dark cinematic soundscapes. Over the years Murkury has cemented himself as one of the premier names in experimental bass boasting an eclectic and thought-provoking catalog.
Worlds Collide opens with the title track of the same name. In this first foray, Murkury and Lavier flex their considerable sound design skills with a collaboration that incorporates their distinct styles. Crunchy synths interplay deftly with bouncy percussion and murky, off-kilter sonic elements. “Worlds Collide” is a clean yet hard-hitting track that blends Lavier’s penchant for moody emotive tension and Murkury’s suave organic approach.
The joint project continues with the ominous and audacious “Final Approach.” Murkury and Lavier slide into this deep, minimal track with atmospheric bass and a brooding dark theme. The tremendous second drop rattles with mind-bending sub-bass and ferocious modulated synths. Easily one of the tracks of the year, “Final Approach” showcases both artists’ innovative finesse.
The EP closes with a feature from in-demand beatsmith Criso. With his remix of “Worlds Collide” Criso summons classic dubstep bravado to concoct a skank-wrorthy sonic weapon. The Raleigh-based producer and DJ has become one of the hottest names in the industry and with this remix, it’s easy to see why.
